Bakong / KHQR at Live777: Paying by National QR

Bakong / KHQR

Bakong is the national interbank payment system of the National Bank of Cambodia, launched on 29 October 2020. It keeps accounts in riel and in dollars and moves money by QR code, phone number or saved contact. KHQR is the national QR standard the central bank runs as part of Bakong: one code that can be paid from the apps of many different banks and payment providers — "one QR for all". You will sometimes see Bakong called a digital currency; the head of the central bank has publicly disputed that description, and it is safer to call it a national payment system. For a casino cashier, KHQR is attractive because the player does not need an account at any particular bank. This page explains how such a deposit works, where it goes wrong and how it meets a bonus. We have not confirmed how the operator processes KHQR: which methods appear, and their limits, depend on the account — check the cashier.

How to deposit with Bakong / KHQR

  1. Choose your promotion first and opt in if it asks. Note the qualifying amount and whether QR deposits are listed as eligible.
  2. In the cashier, select the KHQR or Bakong option and enter the amount in your casino account currency. A QR code appears, usually with a countdown.
  3. Open a banking app that reads KHQR — usually your own bank's app — scan the code and check the recipient and amount before approving.
  4. Pay before the code expires and keep the receipt until the balance, and any bonus, is showing.

How to withdraw after a KHQR deposit

A KHQR code is a way to pay, not an address to be paid. Withdrawals therefore usually travel by another route registered in your name — a bank account, a wallet account or crypto — depending on what the withdrawal tab offers your account. Verification comes first: the Cambodian National Identity Card for citizens or a passport for foreign residents, a proof of address and, often, a statement line showing that the QR payment came from an account in your name. Check that the bank or wallet you paid from is the one you want to be paid back to, and verify it early.

Fixed amounts and expiring codes

A cashier QR normally carries a fixed amount and is valid for a short time. Two habits cause most failed deposits: paying an old code saved as a screenshot, and editing the amount in the app when the code permits it. Either can leave a payment that the casino has to match by hand, which takes time — and time is what a promotion window does not have.

Illustrative example, not a Live777 condition.

Suppose a midweek offer gives free spins for a deposit of at least US$25 (about 102,500 riel) made by Wednesday midnight. You generate a QR at 23:50, the countdown runs out while your banking app asks for a fresh login, and you pay a screenshot of the code at 00:10. The money arrives, is matched manually on Thursday, and the free spins are gone. Generating a new code and paying it inside the timer would have avoided the whole loss.

Riel or dollar side

Because Bakong keeps both riel and dollar accounts, a KHQR code can be in either currency, and the app you pay from may convert if your account is in the other one. Your casino balance has one currency. Read the currency shown on the QR before approving; if it differs from your account, the rate your bank applies will decide whether the credited amount still clears a bonus threshold. After the first payment, compare the debit in your app with the credit in the casino's transaction history.

KHQR deposits and promotions

Promotion terms name the deposit methods that qualify. A QR route can be included, excluded or covered by its own offer; the eligible-methods line is the only reliable answer. Once the bonus is credited, the rules no longer care how you paid: the wagering target, the contribution of each game, the maximum stake while the bonus runs and the expiry all apply. Requesting a withdrawal before the target is met can cancel the bonus together with the winnings it produced.

Scams that use QR codes

The convenience of "scan and pay" is also what makes it attractive to fraud. Only scan codes generated in the cashier of a casino site you opened yourself. A code sent in a chat by someone offering a "VIP deposit channel", a "bonus top-up" or help with a stuck withdrawal is a payment to that person, not to a casino. The recipient name shown in your app before approval is your last chance to notice.

Other local routes

If the KHQR option is not listed, compare ABA PAY and Wing. TrueMoney Wallet and ACLEDA Bank may appear in some cashiers as well. The payments overview sets the routes side by side.

A note on the law

A national QR that every app can read says nothing about whether you may gamble. Cambodian citizens are not permitted to gamble under Cambodia's gambling law, with state lotteries as the exception, and no Cambodian licence for online casinos exists. Check your own position before registering.
